Collective Designs is a residential design service based in Colleyville, Texas, U.S.A.. Serving the Fort Worth / Dallas Metroplex. While our company was formed in 1990, it's origin dates back 50 years. In 1946 Ron's father, after serving his country in WW II, opened his design business located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. For decades Rex Whiting Jr. & Associates had a reputation through-out Oklahoma and surrounding states as one of the top design firms. Designing an average of 300 to 500 houses per year, from the first enclosed donut shaped floating fishing dock in Oklahoma City to the wagon-wheel shaped nursing home, which was and is still being built across the U.S. and over seas. This was truely a top notch, full service design firm. Many of the successful designers and architects in business today worked for Rex Whiting at some point in the past and is known by those as the "Grand-Daddy of the Design Profession".
Ron began working part time for his father while still in high school in 1965. Before a year had passed he knew he wanted to make the design business his life's work and continue his father's business. Upon Rex's retirement in 1980, Ron became the sole proprietor of the
business and continued with great success until in 1986 when the depressed economy in Oklahoma forced the closing of this well established business. After moving to his birthplace of Fort Worth, Ron reopened the business under the new name of Collective Designs.
